New season normally implies new bag, so I thought a post about the best arm candy the new Fall season has to offer was time-appropriate.
Starting with no-other than Phillip Lim who seems to be having a moment in the accessories deparment lately, with his 31-hour and Pashli bags named the new it-bags. The 31-hour bag is, as its name suggests, designed for the busy, career-lady who can’t fit enough hours into her day and therefore needs a bag which will hold anything and everything she might need and which will take her from day to night. The bi-colour design and the adjustable flap, also means that you can switch the colours around (two bags in one?) depending on your outfit or your mood. I personally have the black and white version on my wishlist for quite some time now, there’s something very classic about that colour combination, which combined to the modern design of the bag, makes for some serious arm candy, don’t you think?
As for the Pashli, I did initially have some reservations, thinking it resembles the Celine luggage tote too much! But when I had a close-up look at the Phillip Lim pop-up shop in Selfridges, I was won over. Something about the gold metal details and the side-zips make the bag really stand out, reasoning its ‘it bag’ status. If I were to purchase one, the navy blue one would definitely be it, because if you haven’t heard, navy is the new black this season! (all available at Matches)
Another trend that has slowly but steadily been emerging would be that of a more compact bag. This is actually a trend that could prove pretty useful, encouraging us to learn to only take what we really need and actually finding things when we look for them, instead of carrying our entire lives in our designer arm candy. Leading this trend is the infamous Proenza Schouler PS11 that has recently been stealing the spotlight from her older sister the PS1. Added bonus? It just got released in some delicious new fall colours!
As to what we should be carrying on nights out with out brand-new A/W ’12 dresses, Charlotte Olympia has got it covered. The Pandora clutch: perspex, with interchangeable satin pouches, just so you can look like you are carrying a different bag everytime! Who can say no to practicality and style? I can safely say, that the answer is not many of us!
And because no post about bags is complete without mentioning Chanel, here is the latest version of the BOY bag, in velvet and jewel-toned colours. Who wouldn’t want such a beautiful Boy in their lives… or their closets?
